Visit of the island of Jebale in Douala

Djébalè Island is a stretch of land located just minutes from the city of Douala, on one of Cameroon’s largest rivers called the Wouri River.
It is a little known and autonomous island due to the fishing and trade activities practiced by its inhabitants.
It is occupied by the Sawa people (or Water People), an ethnic group spread over the Littoral and South-West regions of Cameroon: the Bassas, Bakweris, Batangas, Doualas, Malimbas …

The trip is by pleasure canoe (motor or paddle), and it will take you less than 30 minutes to arrive on site.

Having crossed and discovered the beautiful mangrove forest along the way, you will be struck by the old buildings and the peaceful character that reigns there.
