Detours to the riches of the Bamoun people

Foumban is the capital of the Noun department, located in the west of Cameroon, and 70 km northeast of the city of Bafoussam.
The city is recognized by the fact that it is considered the cultural capital of the arts, or the city of the Arts of the Oues region.

It is the place par excellence where it is possible to make a full and enriching cultural visit, in terms of history, culture, tradition and also art.

The great cultural and artisanal riches of the Bamoun people can be discovered from the Royal Palace, then from its museum rich in royal attributes and ancient objects, and finally from its famous street called rue des artisans, crossed on average by nearly 4,500 to 5 people. 000 visitors per year.

Every two years a cultural and traditional celebration takes place in Foumban: The Festival or feast of Nguong. It is a big traditional festival of the Bamoun kingdom which arouses attraction at the national and international level, generally between the 2nd and the 9th of December.

It is a moment of advocacy where the sons and daughters of the Nun department put forward ideas and give their opinion on the management of the kingdom by the sultan. It is also a moment for the latter to face the People’s Court by responding to the accusations made against him. A symbol aimed at strengthening living together for the Bamoun people.
